The death of a man almost three months ago is being treated as murder.

Bedfordshire Police was called just before 07:30 GMT on 6 February to a burnt-out Skoda Octavia in a field near the B659 Langford Road, near Langford.

A body in the driver's seat was later identified as Jesbir Singh Khela, 47, from Letchworth, Hertfordshire.

Det Ch Insp Matt Inwood said the death had been initially treated as unexplained, but following inquiries the force had opened a murder investigation.

"Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Jesbir as this has been a very distressing time for them," he said.

"We are continuing to work hard to establish the circumstances around what happened and would urge anyone who may have any information to get in touch with us."
