A child has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after a motorway crash involving two cars.

Hertfordshire Police said the collision took place at about 16:00 BST on Tuesday on the A1(M) northbound, near junction nine for Letchworth.

It is appealing for dashcam footage and witnesses to the crash, between a black DS 4 and grey Toyota Yaris.

The child was a passenger in the DS 4. Two other people in the DS 4 and the driver of the Toyota suffered minor injuries.

Sgt Luke Morley, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, said: "Our inquiries are continuing, and I am urging anyone with information to please come forward."
