Dozens of people braved the cold weather for a charity walk in memory of a teenager who was stabbed to death.

Connor Brown, 18, was fatally wounded as he tried to defuse a fight in Sunderland city centre in February 2019.

A trust set up in his name to educate young people about the dangers of knife crime has installed potentially, life-saving bleed kits in the city.

Walk organiser Emily Laidler said the event was to "keep Connor's memory alive" and raise money for a good cause.

Connor's friends trekked from Sunderland to South Shields and back again.

Ms Laidler said: "Connor was one of my friends, most of us taking part in the walk knew Connor on a personal level - he has a space in all our hearts.

"As well as raising money, I want to keep his memory alive and will be organising something like this every year."

Tanya Brown, Connor's mother said she was "overwhelmed" by people's support.

"The fact that all these people are behind us and supporting us in Connor's name is just heart-warming," she said.

"The love for Connor is what keeps us going as well."
