Police condemn 'senseless attack' on pensioner

Police have condemned "a senseless attack" on a pensioner in a flat in Dungannon, County Tyrone on Thursday.

The victim, who was in his 70s, died following the assault. A murder investigation has been launched.

Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Supt Peter Stevenson said the man had lived in the area for "more than 20 years".

He was found "seriously injured on the living room floor of the property".

"Officers are at the scene today and are working to establish the full circumstances that led to this senseless attack," Supt Stevenson added.
