Talks with Norfolk Police did not identify "obvious common denominators” for the incidents

New signs will be put in place at a road traffic accident blackspot.

The work will be carried out at the A146 Loddon roundabout in Norfolk following a spate of crashes.

It opened nearly three years ago, but crumpled cars have become a common sight on the side of the road in recent months.

Now the county council hopes chevron signs and lights will make the roundabout easier to see at night and prevent future crashes, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Several accidents have been reported this year, which led Norfolk County Council leader Kay Mason Billig, a Loddon local, to launch an investigation.

Talks with Norfolk Police identified “no obvious common denominators” for the incidents.

Reasons given ranged from drivers falling asleep at the wheel, going too fast and failing to notice the roundabout signs.

Mason Billig, a Conservative councillor, added: “I do not yet have an installation date, but will be pushing for this to happen as soon as possible.”
