Police are appealing for information after a brick was reportedly thrown at a bus and smashed a window

Broken glass landed on a passenger and her child when a brick was thrown at a bus and smashed a window, police have said.

Kent Police said it was alleged the brick was thrown by some teenagers on bikes in Gravesend at about 19:30 BST on Wednesday.

The bus company Arriva previously said it had suspended evening journeys on the 482 bus route due to safety concerns.

Police are appealing for information following the incident in Ash Road.

Ch Insp Will Lay said: "While no injuries were reported on this occasion, this criminality poses a serious risk to those travelling on the road.

"Patrols will be deployed to the area while we seek to track down the offenders."

He said officers were liaising with the bus company and an investigation was ongoing to identify those responsible.

"We are urging any witnesses or anyone who knows those involved in the incident to contact us," he added.

Arriva said it was hoping to restore its full evening service from 4 May, but if the "attacks" continued, it would have no choice but to permanently withdraw evening journeys on the route.
