Battery disposal warning after recycling centre fire

Aberdeenshire residents are being warned to dispose of batteries correctly following a fire at a recycling centre.
The blaze took hold in a container of electrical items at the site in Peterhead last Thursday.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
Aberdeenshire Council said batteries should be disposed in a separate, freely available pink bag along with residents' weekly waste collection.
The recycling centre was closed following the fire but reopened later on the same day.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Services attended the incident.
The fire caused damage to electrical items.
People have also been told that vapes should be disposed of in dedicated containers at its recycling centres.
Ewan Wallace, head of environment and sustainability, said: "When it comes to electricals, please remove any batteries wherever possible and recycle them separately to ensure the safety of our staff and facilities."
