Railway line reopens after flooding

A railway line has reopened after downpours brought travel disruption to the West Midlands for the second week running.

Trains between Wolverhampton and Shrewsbury were cancelled on Monday due to flooding on the railway at Wellington, Shropshire.

But West Midlands Railway said on Tuesday morning the line had reopened and normal service was resumed.

Flooding has caused multiple issues across the West Midlands in recent days, from stranded drivers, to a care home evacuation in Shropshire and school closures in Birmingham.

The Met Office has not yet issued any further weather warnings for the region this week, although the East Midlands was under a yellow warning for heavy rain on Tuesday.
