Ten weeks of roadworks on A5086 begin
Major roadworks, set to last 10 weeks, have begun in a west Cumbria village.
The work, on the A5086 Main Street, in Cleator, will include road repairs, drainage replacement, traffic sign updates, and refreshed road markings.
This project is part of a £14.3m Levelling Up Fund investment programme.
Works will be managed via temporary traffic lights until 28 October, followed by a full road closure.
A footway for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists is in place, with signed diversions along alternative routes for vehicles.
Cumberland Council said school buses would be allowed to pass through the road closures in the morning and afternoon, and waste collection on affected routes would continue as usual.
The local authority apologised for the inconvenience.
