Suffolk's first bank hub to open, with more planned
Suffolk is to welcome its first banking hub, with four more planned.
The service in Haverhill will be officially opened at The Chauntry Centre, just off High Street, on Tuesday, 12 November.
Five of the big banks will have a presence at the hub.
Cash Access UK, the organisation behind the project, said it planned to open further hubs in Hadleigh, Leiston, Mildenhall and Woodbridge.
Gareth Oakley, chief executive of Cash Access UK, said: "I'm delighted that that the permanent banking hub in Haverhill is now open.
"I’d like to thank the library for being hospitable while we were getting the new home ready.
"Customers can visit on any day of the week for their everyday banking transactions and, if you have a specific or more complex inquiry for your bank, a community banker will be there to help on the day they're in the hub."
The imminent arrival of the hub comes after the closure of the town's last bank in June.
Community bankers will be on site on rotation:
- Monday – HSBC
- Tuesday – NatWest
- Wednesday – Lloyds (from December)
- Thursday – Santander
- Friday – Barclays
There will also be a counter service operated by the Post Office where customers of all the major banks can access banking services from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 17:00 GMT.
