A drug dealer who bragged about wanting to "run this town" has been jailed after she was caught selling crack cocaine.

According to South Yorkshire Police, Millie Jones, 26 and of no fixed abode, supplied the drug for the so-called Star line, which operated in the Doncaster suburb of Wheatley.

Jones was caught by officers as part of Operation Dream Alpha, which tackles drug dealing networks and county lines in the city.

Jones, who pleaded guilty to supplying crack cocaine and failing to surrender to police, was sentenced to two years and four months imprisonment at Sheffield Crown Court last Monday.

Det Sgt Rachael Smith said: "Jones was caught supplying drugs in Doncaster city centre, with her brashness seeing her tell people to 'spread the word' about her as a supplier.

"She thought she was untouchable, and even said she wanted to 'run this town', but little did she know we were building up a strong case against her."

Det Sgt Smith said Jones' conviction came after the recent sentencing of three other Doncaster drug dealers who were jailed for supplying Class A drugs.

She added: "What may seem like an innocent street deal has much wider implications, with the use and supply of drugs often funding organised crime gangs who operate in Doncaster and wider South Yorkshire.

"Through Dream Alpha, we have been able to significantly disrupt their influence and activities by bringing drug dealers to justice and getting them off our streets."

More defendants were set to be sentenced in the coming weeks and months, Det Sgt Smith said.
