Hydrotherapy pool saved after fundraising effort

A hydrotherapy pool that faced closure will stay open for another year after a £60,000 fundraising campaign.
Humberston Hydrotherapy Pool, based at the Humberston Park School, has suffered a drop in funding and seen its energy bills treble since the pandemic, officials said.
The community pool has been helping people with disabilities and health conditions for almost 20 years. Students from the school are among those who benefit.
Headteacher Richard Gargon expressed his "heartfelt thanks" to people who had donated to keep the pool open.
"In a time of real financial challenge, your support has helped protect a lifeline that brings joy, comfort and progress to many people, young and old, every single day," he added.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the pool has also been awarded a public health grant from North East Lincolnshire Council.
Gemma Rylatt, a trustee of the pool, said: "I am amazed by the overwhelming support we have received from the local community and to be able to partner with Public Health is something that we have always wanted to do.
"The fundraising efforts will continue as we need the pool to be a sustainable resource for the community for many years to come."
