Monday has been declared the hottest day of the year in the UK so far, with temperatures reaching 33.9C (93F) in Cambridge.

The East of England was among the parts of the country forecast for the warmest weather.

Across the East, BBC Weather Watchers snapped pics of hot golden fields, cool river walks and sandy beaches under blue skies.

Yellow heat health alerts were issued by UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA), although these are only likely to affect the most vulnerable, such as the elderly of those with health conditions.
