Bristol in Pictures: Dreaming of Twickenham

Anyone got plans for Friday?
With Bristol Bears set to face Bath at the Rec in a winner-takes-all match to reach the Premiership final at Twickenham, we feel like more than a few people will be glued to their TVs.
Away from the sporting action - which saw Gloucestershire begin the defence of their T20 title - Love Saves The Day and Good Times Live rounded off last weekend, as did the Portishead Sea Shanty Festival.
Three choirs from Bristol have been celebrating award wins, and the Forbidden Worlds film festival has been rolling back the years on the big screen.

Friday Fun: The SeatUnique ground in Bristol was packed on Friday night as Gloucestershire began the defence of their T20 title. It didn't go their way, Kent winning a close game, but fans saw plenty of runs. Next up at home is the big one against Somerset on 13 June.

Crowded house: Love Saves The Day came to an end at Ashton Court on Sunday, when the sun came out for the thousands of ticket holders.

Rocking on: Natalie Imbruglia was one of the acts that helped bring the curtain down on Good Times Live at Chipping Sodbury last weekend, although the comedy shows continued into Bank Holiday Monday.

Making their point: Visitors to Berkeley Castle got to see history come alive as knights of old clashed as part of a jousting-themed weekend.

Diving in: The Forbidden Worlds Festival has returned, this year with a line-up of films based on, under and around the world's oceans, partly to celebrate the 50th anniversary of horror classic Jaws. The festival continues on Sunday with The Whale God, Below and Alligator at the Bristol Megascreen.

They've bin busy: There was a grand opening this week of Bristol Waste's new £5m Materials Recycling Facility in Avonmouth, which the company says will increase the city's overall recycling capacity.

Cheers: The Spirit of Bristol Gin cruise has been taking groups around the city centre waterways aboard the Tower Belle while they sample different spirits named after different parts of the city.

High praise: The Almondsbury Community Shop has been given the King's Award for Voluntary Service - the highest award given to volunteer groups in the UK and equivalent to an MBE. The village shop, entirely run by volunteers, received its award from Edward Gillespie OBE, Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire.

Sailing on: The Portishead Sea Shanty Festival saw shanties aplenty played at venues across the town last weekend, all in aid of the RNLI and Children's Hospice South West.

In harmony: Bristol's reputation as a city of singing was strengthened when three barbershop choirs won national chorus trophies at the British Association of Barbershop Singers (BABS) annual convention. The winners were Bristol A Cappella (above) and The Great Western Chorus and The Bristol Mix (below).

Helping out: The specialist debt team at Citizens Advice South Gloucestershire has been shortlisted for a national award after their work helping people from their offices in Yate and Staple Hill.
