F1 commentator Jennie Gow opens new stroke unit
BBC sports broadcaster Jennie Gow has opened a new stroke unit in Surrey.
The F1 commentator spent months learning to walk and talk again after a stroke in 2022.
The 47-year-old attended Frimley Park Hospital, where she received some of her treatment, for the opening ceremony of its stroke recovery centre.
Speaking about her own experience, she said: "It’s a very personal battle and it’s very isolating.”
Ms Gow has spoken previously of her difficult recovery, in which she called for more support and research to help people who suffer strokes.
She was treated at hospitals in London and Surrey following her stroke in December 2022.
At the time, she wrote on social media: "Thank you to the medical teams at Frimley and St George's, and my family and friends who've got me through the last fortnight."
