Investigation after pair hurt in hospital incident

An investigation is under way at a hospital after a man and woman were injured following concerns for their safety.

Police were called to the East Atrium at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital at 13:30 GMT on Thursday.

Details of the incident have not been released and the man and woman's injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

"The health and safety of everyone in our hospital is an absolute priority and we will take prompt action if further safety measures are identified and required as a result of this incident and ongoing investigations," said the hospital trust's chief executive Lesley Dwyer.

"We'd like to thank our staff who gave assistance and cared for the two people injured and we are supporting those who have been affected by this incident."

Police said they left the scene at about 18:00 GMT.
