Path closed after tree uprooted during Storm Bert
Sections of a footpath in Devon have been closed after a tree was uprooted during Storm Bert.
Tavistock Town Council said a retaining wall and the path on Abbey Walk in the town were damaged.
Parts of the walkway were closed on Sunday as a "safety measure", the council said.
The authority added that, after assessing the extent of the damage on Monday, measures had been implemented to "install temporary fencing" so the path could be re-opened to the public.
A council spokesperson said: "A programme of works has already been agreed regarding how to rebuild the retaining wall and reinstate the walkway, but these works will be scheduled when it is safe to undertake, considering access is required adjacent to the watercourse.
"Advanced warning of when the repairs are due to commence will be provided as this will require a further temporary closure of the walkway, anticipated for a period up to two weeks."
The council said it was thanking everyone affected for their patience and understanding.
