Plans to convert a derelict pub into a private dental practice and flats have been approved.

Applicant 765 Investments intends to turn The White Horse, on Harborough Road in Kingsthorpe, Northampton, into three one-bedroom flats with a ground floor dental surgery.

Conservative-controlled West Northamptonshire Council approved the plans for the venue, which has been vacant for 15 years.

Tory councillor Sam Rumens said the proposed regeneration was "great to see" and said the current building was an "eyesore".

The building would provide three surgery rooms, one consultation room, a reception and waiting area and other supporting facilities, said the Local Democracy Reporting Service.

Proposed opening hours for the dental clinic are from 08:00 to 18:00 Monday to Friday, and between 10:00 and 14:00 on Saturdays.

The new use for the building will also create 14 jobs, including three dentists and five dental nurses.

Kingsthorpe North councillor Mr Rumens said: "This [building] has been an eyesore for our part of the world for well over a decade.

"Though I, like many in Kingsthorpe, wouldn't be against it becoming a boozer again, it's understandable that we have to accept a compromise here."
