Drugs worth £860,000 seized in Kilkeel

Cocaine and cannabis with an estimated street value of £860,000 were seized by police in Kilkeel, County Down.

A 46-year-old man who was arrested at the time, has been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said it followed a proactive search of a property in the Carrigenagh Road area on Thursday.

A PSNI spokesman said that as "a result of this excellent police work, a large quantity of suspected dangerous controlled drugs are now safely off our streets".

Police have appealed to anyone "with information about the illicit supply, possession or misuse of drugs" to contact them.
