Robin Hood and Marian reunited as statue repaired

A town in Nottinghamshire was full of merry men and women after a statue of Robin Hood and Maid Marian was successfully restored.
The bronze representation of the legendary lovers in Edwinstowe had been damaged so badly that they were no longer holding hands.
Nottinghamshire County Council said the distressed digits "needed intricate and highly skilled restoration work" to restore the folk heroes properly.
The repaired statue was unveiled by Rob Brackley and Katie Ward, who portray the legendary couple for Notts Outdoors.

The statue was sculpted by Neale Andrew, and installed outside the village library as part of a regeneration project of the High Street in 1998.
It was damaged by vandals on 31 October last year, leading to a police investigation.
"It's wonderful to see this much-loved statue back to its original condition with Robin and Marian back to being hand-in-hand," said Ms Ward.
"This statue is a real asset to the county's visitor economy and very popular among locals and the many tourists who visit Edwinstowe.
"People love to get a selfie here, especially with Robin's home, Sherwood Forest, just a stone's throw away.
"We always point visitors in the direction of the village when visiting Sherwood Forest, so we're glad they'll once again be able to see the statue in all its glory."
