An arrest has been made in connection with a stabbing in West Sussex.

Sussex Police said they responded to a "disturbance" in Valebridge Drive, Burgess Hill, at about 20:00 BST on Wednesday.

Two men, who were known to each other, had stab wounds and were taken to hospital for treatment.

One of them remains in hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, said police. The other man, a 29-year-old from Burgess Hill, was discharged and arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

The 29-year-old remains in police custody, said officers.

Sussex Police said inquiries were ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident, but there was no indication of any third party involvement.

The public have been told to expect a heightened police presence in the area.
