Man arrested after car recovered from river

A man has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs after a car went into a river in West Sussex.
Emergency services were called to reports of the vehicle partially submerged in water near the Ropetackle Arts Centre in Shoreham at about 01:00 GMT.
The occupant was able to safely release himself from the vehicle and was unharmed, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said.
A 44-year-old man, from Henfield, has been arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of drugs and causing a public nuisance.

He remains in custody, Sussex Police said.
Fire crews recovered the vehicle from the River Adur and left the scene within an hour.
