Wiltshire in pictures: Cold snap brings frosty scenes

Temperatures have plunged across the county this week as people have been enjoying the last few days of their festive breaks.

With the mercury dropping, gritters have been out in force keeping our roads safe.

The colder, brighter temperatures have also given budding photographers the opportunity to capture stunning sunsets and sunrises.

Winter walks: For ramblers and dog walkers across the county, the cold weather provided ample opportunities to explore the great outdoors with a notable crunch under foot.

As seen above, the fields and public footpaths of Chippenham proved perfect for a bracing stroll.

Light and Dark: The frost had largely gone by Friday afternoon, but many in the county were treated to a dazzling sunset.

Those with time to spare were enjoyed a walk as the low sun casted dramatic shadows across Wiltshire's parks, gardens and open spaces.

Swindon's Town Gardens, pictured above, was no exception.
