Plan submitted for new Lidl in retail park

A planning application has been submitted to to build a new Lidl supermarket in a city retail park.

Urban Edge Architecture has applied to replace Smyths Toys and HomeSense at the Churchill Way West Retail Park in Salisbury, Wiltshire.

The application to Wiltshire Council also proposes altering the shared car park next to the two units.

The developers say the construction will create up to 50 new jobs.

The planning application, submitted on behalf of on behalf of Schroders Real Estate Investment Management, explains that the two retailers currently on the proposed site will leave in early 2025.

It goes on to say the Lidl store would occupy a combined unit to "secure its long-term occupation".

A date for a decision on the application is yet to be determined.
