Another inmate arrested in prisoner murder inquiry

A further arrest has been made as part of an investigation into the death of an inmate at a prison in Leicestershire.

A 31-year-old man, who has not yet been named by police, was found unresponsive in his cell at HMP Fosse Way, in Glen Parva, on Tuesday and was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Leicestershire Police said a 20-year-old man, an inmate at the jail, was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assault and conspiracy to commit murder.

He has since been released under investigation.

Three men have already been charged with murder in connection with the death.

Shaan Karim, 38, Thierry Robinson, 21, and Ashirie Smith, 18, appeared at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Friday.

They were remanded into custody and are due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday .

Three other men, aged 27, 28 and 35, have all been released under investigation after previously being arrested on suspicion of murder, police said.
