A major route in Leicestershire has reopened after being closed for several hours due to a house fire.

Fire crews attended an incident in Leicester Road, Glen Parva, after Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service received reports at about 06:00 GMT on Wednesday.

One person was treated at the scene for a minor foot injury, a statement said, with another person also treated for suspected smoke inhalation.

The A426 Leicester Road was closed between Grange Drive and Glenville Avenue but, at 15:00, Leicestershire Police said it had reopened.
