Hull's Armed Forces Day takes places on Saturday

Armed Forces Day will be celebration in Hull next weekend.

The free event takes place between 10:00 and 16:00 BST on Saturday in Queen Victoria Square, city centre.

Hull City Council, which is organising the event, promised activities for families, including a climbing wall and balloon modelling, as well as military attractions and a veterans' marquee.

Councillor Rob Pritchard said it was an opportunity for residents to "celebrate the vital role our country's armed forces play in protecting us".

Hull History Centre, which stores the city's archives, will also be showing original footage of VE Day celebrations in Hull.

There will be musical performances on the main stage from The Band of 150 Regiment Royal Logistic Corps and Humberside and South Yorkshire Army Cadet Force Band.

Pritchard added: "This family-friendly event has so much on offer with something for everyone to enjoy."

Events marking Armed Forces Day 2025 will be taking place across the country.

A three-day event will take place in Cleethorpes from 27 June.
