Two men killed in Okehampton car crash

Two men have died after a crash in Devon, police have said.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the single vehicle collision involving a blue MG ZS happened on the B3260 in Okehampton at about 03:15 GMT on Tuesday.

A 20-year-old man from Kingsteignton was pronounced dead at the scene, while an 18-year-old man from Chagford was pronounced dead while travelling to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, a 20-year-old man from Chagford was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs and causing death by dangerous driving.

'Provide support'

He also suffered injuries not considered life-threatening or life-changing.

Police, fire and the ambulance services attended the scene and put a road closure in place.

The B3260 was closed to allow for roads policing officers and forensic collision investigators to conduct an investigation.

Ch Insp Dean Drury said: "Our thoughts continue to be with everybody affected by this tragic collision.

"We are working hard to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and provide support for those who require it."
