Fire crews were called to Trenance Leisure Park in Newquay following reports of a hazardous chemical leak

Fire crews were called to reports of a "hazardous chemical leak" at a leisure park on Saturday morning in Cornwall.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said it received a 999 call from police at about 00:20 GMT alerting them of a spillage at Trenance Leisure Park in Newquay.

The fire service assessed the situation to determine whether there was a danger to the public or the environment.

It said there was "no risk to the wider public or environment", adding the incident was handed over to the company and maintenance team.

"A hazardous materials and environmental protection advisor also provided tactical advice to crews and the critical control centre," said the fire service.

"No further resources were required and The Environment Agency (EA) were informed."

The BBC has approached the EA, the leisure park and fire service for more information.
