A new bridge for cyclists and pedestrians has opened in Leamington Spa.

Runners, cyclists and members of Warwick District Council gathered on Wednesday to open the bridge between Radford Road and Newbold Comyn Country Park.

The 3.5m-wide (11ft) structure over the River Leam was installed in November and also provides access for wheelchair users and people on mobility scooters.

It replaced the former bridge which was removed in March after it closed in August 2023 on safety grounds.

Councillor Will Roberts said: "It's wonderful to finally see a new and much improved Radford Road Bridge fully installed and open just in time for the festive season."

The authority said the fencing, landscaping and planting at the site would be completed in the coming weeks.
