A burst water pipe has left almost 200 properties with low water pressure or no water at all.

Thames Water said its teams had been working overnight on the damaged pipe in Angus Court, Thame, but said the repair had been "more challenging than expected".

It said the water supply to 196 properties in the area had been compromised by the burst pipe.

A separate burst pipe has also closed a major route through Bicester, the water company said.

A spokesperson apologised to those affected by either incident, adding that bottled water was being delivered to properties with little or no water supply in Thame.

"Since we expect the repair may take some time, we've dropped pallets of bottled water at Warrens Mead, OX9 3GD, available for collection," the latest update on the company's website reads.

It said work on the pipe had been complicated as it was deep underground, meaning special parts and fittings were required.

The process had also been slowed by nearby utilities and the discovery of another damaged pipe that also needed to be fixed, the spokesperson said.

It added the water supply was expected to return "later on today".

In a separate incident, part of the B4100 London Road in Bicester has been closed whilst Thames Water repairs a pipe following damage "from a third party".

To safely manage the flow of wastewater, the water company said it was using large tanker vehicles to remove sewage from the network.

It added the road closure had been implemented to "ensure the safety of everyone involved".

Thames Water said it would provide a further update later.
