Christmas festival cancelled over weather fears
Beverley's Festival of Christmas, which was due to take place on Sunday, has been cancelled due to Storm Darragh.
The East Riding of Yorkshire Council said it had called off the event because of safety concerns following weather warnings for heavy rain and severe winds.
A spokesperson for the council said they understood people would be "disappointed" and the decision had "not been taken lightly".
The authority said it would communicate with all traders and stallholders regarding refunds.
A council spokesperson said the event had involved six months of planning.
"While we fully appreciate residents, visitors and traders will be extremely disappointed, the safety of all involved is our primary concern and this decision has not been taken lightly."
The council added it would be advising about refunds and thanked everyone for their understanding and support.
