Police investigating a hit-and-run crash in which a man was struck by a van have issued a photo appeal.

Officers said the pedestrian was hit at the junction of Evington Lane, Evington Rod and Evington Drive in Evington shortly before 19:00 GMT on Friday.

The man, who was in his 70s, was taken to hospital with serious injuries but the van left the scene before emergency services arrived, police said.

Now CCTV images have been released by Leicestershire Police showing a Maxus van officers want to track down.

The man remains in hospital being treated for serious injuries the force says are "not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing".

Det Sgt Jack Cornick from the force's Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "From inquiries carried out since the incident occurred, we believe the driver of this van has information that could help our investigation.

"It's quite distinctive in its appearance and is a Maxus van. If you were the driver of that vehicle, or you know who was, then please get in touch."
