A man has suffered an apparent slash injury after he was attacked by a fast-food delivery cyclist in Leicester.

Police say two men were assaulted in an altercation with the cyclist in Colton Square at about 21:50 BST on Thursday night.

One man suffered the slash injury, which required hospital treatment, and the second a minor injury to his arm, added police.

The force has appealed for information about the cyclist, who is described as white, in his late teens to mid-20s, of medium build with dark hair and wearing a black hooded coat with black bottoms and dark trainers.

The suspect cycled off in the direction of London Road, officers said.

Det Sgt Robert Smith is investigating the incident and appealing for witnesses.

He said: "I would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed what happened, but also anyone in the Colton Square area, who received a food order at this time last night from a cyclist matching this description, as your information could assist our ongoing inquiries to identify him."
