Takeaway fire started accidentally in kitchen

A fire at a takeaway which spread from the ground floor to the roof is thought to have started accidentally in the kitchen.

The blaze at the three-storey takeaway on East Street, Bridport started on Monday at about 15:50 BST.

Three people were taken to safety at a nearby hotel with no injuries reported.

Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said the fire was put out shortly before 20:20 with crews due to return on Tuesday to check for hot spots.

At its height 40 firefighters were at the fire which spread to the roof via the building's ventilation system.

East Street has now reopened.
