Kite flyers from across world attend festival
Kite fanatics from across the world have descended on a seaside town for its annual festival.
The 12th St Annes International Kite Festival began on Friday and runs until Sunday on the Lancashire town’s seafront.
Chantelle Vickers from Fylde Council said seeing the kites being flown to music "at different speeds, all different sizes" was "something spectacular to watch".
The festival had put "St Anne's on the kite flyers' map" so there were many international visitors this weekend, she added.
Ms Vickers told BBC Radio Lancashire spectators could expect to be dazzled by the kite displays.
“There’s a lot of skill that’s involved,” she said.
Other entertainment over the weekend includes music, a funfair, fireworks and food stalls, Ms Vickers said.
The festival schedule is:
- Saturday 14 September – 11:00 to 17:00 BST (fairground and evening entertainment to 22:00)
- Sunday 15 September – 11:00 to 16:00
Due to the events being weather dependent, Ms Vickers warned the festival’s schedule could change at short notice.
"We need certain wind speeds for [the flyers] to be able to get the kite up," she said.
