The world’s biggest online shopping day
On 11 November each year, Chinese shoppers flock to online retail giant Alibaba for a 24-hour ‘mass-participation buying frenzy’. Finn Aberdein reports.
It’s the buying bonanza of the year – Singles Day, an enormous online shopping event which generates almost $18bn of sales in one 24-hour frenzy.
The stakes are high both for merchants and Alibaba, the online retail giant which hosts the event. Finn Aberdein goes behind the scenes to see how the day unfolds.
