The 2,500-year-old sport that still flourishes in India
Considered to be the oldest sport in the world – wrestling, in its rawest form, continues to flourish in the rural heartland of India.
While most wrestlers transition on to the mat at a later stage, mud wrestling continues to be the starting point for most Indian wrestlers who go on to compete at the international level for India.
We take you to one of the oldest training pits called an 'Akhara' in the ancient city of Varanasi in northern India where the sport is practiced.
