How giant sails could make shipping greener
Around 3500 BC, ancient Egyptians invented the sailboat. They built ships with masts and sails made out of reeds that could harness the power of the wind. Now researchers are working to adapt this ancient technology to help end the fossil fuel era of shipping and curb the industry's carbon footprint.
