The small Italian village that can't be reached by car
Situated on top of a magnificent alpine plateau, at 1815m above sea level, Chamois is Italy’s second highest city but it’s the first and only without cars. In 1955, the issue of environmental sustainability was not a popular concept yet. Nevertheless, the village of Chamois did not succumb to the impulses of progress and decided to build a cableway that is the only means of connection with the valley floor. A thing that the 99 inhabitants still claim with pride.
