Flooded streets, downed trees and snow hit California

An atmospheric river is bringing flash floods, fallen trees and wind gusts of 60mph (96.5km/h) to the US state of California. Hundreds of thousands of people have been left without electricity, while others have been stranded in flooded streets.

Authorities in southern California issued evacuation orders for some areas damaged during recent wildfires because of the risk of landslides.
