Rudy Giuliani says he plans to appeal 'absurd' penalty

Rudy Giuliani has been ordered to pay more than $148m (£116m) to two women over false claims they tampered with votes in 2020. The former mayor of New York City and Donald Trump's ex-personal lawyer says he will appeal the penalty and will seek a 'fair trial'.

Speaking to reporters after the verdict, he added that the types of comments the two women claim they received as a result of his accusations are the types of comments he receives daily. Ruby Freeman, a plaintiff in the case, said others are yet to be held accountable for the comments they made that changed her life.
