Bodycam video shows Maui police frustrated by road blocks
At least 99 people died when an inferno destroyed the town of the Lahaina in the deadliest wildfire in modern US history. Through first-hand accounts, as well as police bodycam footage and recordings, a BBC investigation reveals why it was so hard to escape - and uncovers mistakes from authorities.
The police footage, obtained through a Freedom on Information Act request, shows Maui police officers frustrated by the road blocks stopping people trying to evacuate.
"Why are the cars not moving?" says one officer. "The fire is right next to the cars."
