Overnight snow showers and icy conditions have caused travel disruption on the Isle of Man.

The A18 Mountain Road was closed between Ramsey and the Creg ny Baa shortly before midnight.

The morning's flights between the island and Manchester, Liverpool and Birmingham were cancelled after delays caused by snow at the airport.

Some morning bus services in residential areas in the island's capital were also suspended for a time.

An amber weather warning was put in place for snow and ice until 12:00 GMT on Friday by Ronaldsway Met Office.

Forecasters warned further wintry showers were expected during the afternoon and evening, falling as sleet at low-levels and as snow over higher ground above about 300ft (90m).

The Isle of Man Constabulary said the island's road were "subject to being frozen and slippery" after "extremely cold" weather overnight.

A spokesman said while the main roads had been gritted and were "passable with care", other routes were still frozen.

Residents were urged to "take care whether you're driving or walking on the pavements".
