Army veteran using paramotoring to combat loneliness

A new charity is helping armed forces veterans adjust to life after service by taking up paramotoring and paragliding.

Paul Goodwin, who joined the military aged 16 and now works as an instructor at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate, set up Resurgence Air Sports together with friend Tom Henwood following the death of one of his fellow soldiers.

He said: "I think sometimes it's difficult when you leave to keep that adventurous spirit, that camaraderie, but with the people that we are helping at the moment we've found that we've re-injected that in to them."

Peter Darker, who used the charity after leaving the Army, said: "It feels like I've got a purpose again. It feels like I'm part of something. It's changed my life".
