'Why we love going to weekly lightsaber classes'

A lightsaber group says it is gaining popularity as a welcoming and diverse addition to the community.

LudoSport Essex was set up at Marks Tey Parish Hall near Colchester in October 2024 to teach people how to use the fictional weapon made famous in the Star Wars franchise.

The club says nearly 40 people have tried their sessions so far.

LudoSport was founded in Italy 21 years ago.

Pippa Green, founder of the Essex group, will be representing the club at a national competition on Saturday - the Britannia Academy Tournament in Bristol.

"I've wanted to be a Jedi since I was 11 years old and this is as close to that reality as you can get," she said.
