'Heinous predator' sentenced for abuse offences
Police say David John Andrews, who was sentenced at a court in Downpatrick on Tuesday, was a "heinous predator" who groomed young girls across the UK.
Andrews, 55, with an address at Maghaberry Prison, pleaded guilty to 130 charges of sexual abuse. The charges related to 47 victims, 46 of whom were children at the time of the offences.
Det Ch Insp Jill Duffie paid tribute to the "incredibly brave" victims and their families who helped police convict Andrews.
She said it had been a team effort between several police forces and the Public Prosecution Service (PPS) to reach the point where the paedophile had been sentenced.
Andrews must serve a minimum of 13 and a half years before he is eligible for parole.
