'We're here to celebrate the life of Joss Naylor'

Hundreds of fell runners have celebrated the life of Joss Naylor.

The record-breaking veteran athlete, who was born in Cumbria and known as the King of the Fells, died last month aged 88.

In tribute, the runners descended on the Lake District village of Wasdale Head after racing up to 8 miles (14km) through the valley.

They then walked in front of the cortege to "lead Joss home" ahead of the service at St Olaf's Church.

The Fell Runners Association said it had been "Joss's wish that his funeral should be a colourful celebration of his life".
