Archive: Crowds gather to buy Christmas turkeys

Archive video showed people gathering at a pre-Christmas sale of live turkeys.

The BBC footage from December 1958 was filmed in Stowmarket, Suffolk, where the event was held annually.

About 500 birds were on show for potential buyers to inspect, with hens selling for up to five shillings a pound.
