Northern soul enjoys a revival among young people

Northern Soul is enjoying a revival among young people in Bristol.

It began as an underground British club movement in the 1970s, taking off in the north of England and bringing young people together to dance to obscure mid-60s Motown-inspired sounds.

"Northern Soul Girl" Levanna Mclean started the Bristol Northern Soul Club in 2021.

"A few of the older soulies come to our nights and they're very, very welcoming to the younger generation," she said.
